God of yesterday, today, and forever is with us to the end of ages

“Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.” (1 Peter 1:10-12)

The greatness and specialness of our salvation in Jesus Christ is what the prophets of old longed for in their lifetime. These were hand-picked men by the Lord to pave the way for the living Christ before them. They were messengers God and advocates on behalf of their people. As high priests they cleansed themselves and others by offering right sacrifices, pleading with the Lord for mercy and compassion (Dan 1:3-19). They conversed with the Lord and angels, were granted visions and revelations, witnessed signs, wonders, and miracles far too great to comprehend, and yet, they did not get to see in full what we have in Jesus Christ (Matt 13:17).

Let us remind our brothers and sisters in Christ of their standing with God, that the same God of yesterday is the same God as today and forever, and He promises to be with us always. To those who have yet to see and taste the glory of God, let us preach the message of the Gospel that was once preached to us by the Holy Spirit, and like those of old, let us hold fast to what was promised without wavering.

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23)

Thanks Andrew for that reminder about God's faithfulness and our dependence on it! I just read this morning, "Walk about Zion, go around her, count her towers... For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end" (Ps. 48:12,14).

Thanks, Andrew for the wonderful reminder. God has been so faithful for so many years. The way He has lifted me up when I was down, healed me when I was broken and provided for me so undeservedly, what a glorious relief to know that He never changes nor wavers. You would think that He would change His mind about me after all these years but He hasn't. After proving Himself for over 50 years, you'd think that I get it by now and stop all worrying...not so. How can we not love Him for His unchanging ways! I will hold on to His unchanging character and love to light my way until I get home!
